Start Here: Your First Step to Getting Sober
We get messages like this all the time:
“Something has to change. I’ve been waking up every day saying I won’t drink… and then I do. I’m starting to feel like I can’t trust myself anymore.”
“I’m scared to tell anyone I’m struggling because from the outside, my life looks perfect. I’m a mom, I have a job, a nice house… but I feel like I’m falling apart.”
“It’s not like I drink every night—but once I start, I can’t stop. I hate who I become. I’m so tired of hiding this part of me.”
If this is you—reading this in the quiet of your morning, late at night when the house is still, or with tears in your eyes—we want you to know something:
You’re not broken. You’re awakening.
There’s something inside of you that knows you’re meant for more. More peace, more presence, more connection. And yes, sobriety is a big change—but it’s not the end. It’s the beginning of coming home to your truest, most radiant self.
Let’s walk through your options, together.
🌿 The Fear Is Real—But It’s Not Final
That pit-in-your-stomach feeling? The dread about what life might look like without alcohol? The shame? It’s normal. So many women start right here. You’re not the only one who feels afraid of what comes next.
But fear doesn’t mean stop—it means pay attention.
This is your soul whispering: there’s something better for you. And you don’t have to figure it all out today. You just need to take the next right step.
💫 So... What Now?
There’s no one-size-fits-all recovery path. Sobriety isn’t linear. It’s layered. It’s personal. And most of all—it’s possible.
Here are some of the most powerful options to begin your healing journey. You don’t have to choose all of them. Just start with the one that speaks to your spirit.
🏥 1. Rehab or Detox
If you’re physically dependent on alcohol or experience withdrawal symptoms, a medically supervised detox or treatment center may be the safest first step.
This was Erinn’s path. She checked herself into a rehab program and it changed everything—her body, her mind, her life. It gave her the foundation she needed to start rebuilding in a safe, supportive space.

🕊️ 2. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
AA has helped millions. But finding a meeting you love might take time—don’t let that discourage you. There are women’s meetings, spiritual ones, speaker meetings, and virtual groups.
We always say: you’re not married to the first meeting you go to. Give yourself permission to try a few and find the one that clicks.

🙏 Allow Yourself to Be Guided
At some point, you may still feel stuck. Even after reading everything, the fear might still linger. That’s where surrender comes in.
Pray about it.
Yes, really. Recovery is deeply spiritual. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Ask for help. Get quiet. Let your intuition speak. Let God show you the next step. The path will be revealed.
Here’s a simple prayer you can use right now:
Dear God, I don’t know what to do next, but I know I can’t keep living this way.
Please show me the path. Help me hear You.
Give me the strength to take the next step, even if I’m afraid.
Surround me with support.
Lead me to peace, to freedom, and back to who You created me to be.
I am ready. I am open. I am Yours.
Amen.
Journal or Pray on This:
God, what do You want me to know right now?
What would it feel like to fully trust You in this season?
What’s one step I can take today toward freedom?
Who am I becoming as I walk this path?

✨ You Are Not Alone
Here’s the truth: you don’t have to wait until it gets worse. You don’t need to earn your way into healing by suffering more. You just need to decide.
There is a whole world waiting for you on the other side of alcohol. Your peace. Your clarity. Your power. Your beauty.
And you don’t have to do it alone—we’re right here with you.
Keep us posted. Stay open. Trust your gut.
You are deeply supported and wildly loved.
